Weds
Swelling seeping away slowly bur surely. New hand weights arrived today so at least I can do some good work on my arms, shoulders and upper body. Ice and physio seem to be the secret to knee mobility. Hurrah.

One week
Today is day 7 since I was sliced apart. The swelling is beginning to go down assisted by ice packs. Went to physio yesterday, and she gav me another six exercises to do, and emphasised that ice would help greatly with reducing the swelling. So, I've been plundering the freezer, pulled out a ice pack, wrapped a pillow case around it and plonked it on my knee. I can almost walk normally up stairs, but coming down is still uncomfortable.
Beginning to get ever so slightly fed up not being able to move around. And I am really beginning to miss doing any exercise. Keep telling myself that only boring people get bored, well perhaps so. Keep telling myself that short term loss is long term gain.
Dread to imagine how unfit I'm going to become by the time I'm allowed to row again.

Swelling receeding slowly, little pain and movement easing. 4 tiny slits, three on one side and one on other. Frustrating.

Knee surgery
Had my first general anaesthetic today. Quite a strange sensation as a wave crept up on my upper body and then a tingling sense around my lower face followed by a metallic taste in my mouth. Then sleepy time.
Awoke an hour later and was initially surprised as I remembered nothing, that of course is the point. Anyway, the surgeon has cleaned up my left knee as far as he could. Snipped my cartledge and removed the medial plica, which is surplus to requirements. He showed me some photo's he had taken of my knee, very strange to see your own body internally. Good news that cartledge and ligaments are in top nick, bad news is that the top of my leg bone where it meets my knee has a grove running along it, and a bit of arthritis too. So its' as good as its' going to get.
So start home physio on weds and have made an appointment for professional physio too. So have to be a good patient and be patient.

Ladybird.........Found a seven spot ladybird in the kitchen, must have come in from the garden to avoid the cold. It landed on the window sill and commenced eating basil leave and a bit of left over apple. Any ideas on how we can keep it alive until the spring ?
Reality progs on TV.....HATE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE THEM......Try to respect others having different taste, he say tea and she says coffee, but generally reality progs are the spawn of dumb down demon, ranked only along day time Tv presenters, estate agents and car salesmen.
Down on river yesterday at 0730,,,it was so beautiful as to be almost un-wordly. Bitterly cold, shimmering still water, pale blue cobalt sky, mist lingering over the fields, sound of blades and boats on the water, just about as good as it gets. Autumn is truly wonderful.

Cold, cold, cold, cold,,,and I love it. Crystal clear blue skies with a pale sun barely able to rise over the tops of buildings and warm the land. Big coats even hats and gloves to follow soon. Dark evenings and glorious, colourful, brillant sun rises shimmering above the frozen mist shroudded tree silhouettes of the flat lands of East Anglia. Water turned into frozen immobile mirrors with the wisp of frost dancing across the tops in the insipid gentle suns rays as the darkness ebbs away. Wonderful.

Wormery
Must buy a wormery to chew away all the domestic kitchen food waste and provide with some free garden compost in return. Did 8k on ergo today in effort to retain some fitness prior to my knee surgery next week. Juggling now that is a strange thing, and some people juggle fire ..must be mad.

Well kiddies, autumn is here, leave are falling and I need to buy some honey and read about England's victory over Australia yesterday. Hurrah.
